The candle can be made of paraffin (a byproduct of petroleum refining), stearin (now produced almost exclusively from palm waxes), beeswax (a byproduct of honey collection), gel (a mixture of resin and mineral oil), some plant waxes (generally palm, carnauba, bayberry, or soy), or tallow (rarely used since the introduction of affordable wax alternatives). The candle is produced in various colors, shapes, sizes and scents. The most basic production method generally entails the liquification of the solid fuel by the controlled application of heat. This liquid is then poured into a mold to produce a pillar type candle, a fireproof jar to produce a candle container, or a wick is repeatedly immersed in the liquid to create a dipped taper. Often, fragrance oils are added to the liquid wax prior to pouring. Natural scents, in the form of essential oils, can also be used. The candle may also be colored by the addition of some sort of coloring agent. This is almost always an aniline-based dye, although pigments can be used in some circumstances.

White Egret Candles, Beeswax, 12 candlesReviewsI have used ear candles over the years to clear up some of the wax that is way down in the ear. I found that these candles are very sturdy and burn evenly. I would recommend this brand to anyone with a need for ear candles. I'm sure it was an oversight, however the package was short 1 candle. Still I would order again. Fantastic product! Although I use the candles by Wally's Naturals. I love how the smoke from the candle helps to loosen the wax so that the ear can excrete it naturally during the candling and after. Plus it is very relaxing. The wax at the bottom is only from the paraffin in the candle and the loosened wax will of course help clear your hearing tremendously and help your body to excrete the wax naturally through the ears! No vacuum, just a little steam/heat from the candle smoke. Helped tremendously to loosen my ear wax! For those of you that have only used one and had no success and questioned the wax at the bottom. The wax is from the candle and maybe a little from your ear, but not much right then and there. Also, it can take quite a few candles sometimes before you get the desired affect. [...] I personally have to question why someone would put a lit waxy candle into her 4-year-old's ear (in response to a comment on another's review). It's amazing how completely backwards and primitive our society can be in an attempt to find a quick fix that avoids those demonic doctors, right? People will believe what they want to believe, and unfortunately, I can't change anyone's stance on that. But I can certainly support your comment. To all of you who love ear candling, please try this one experiment for me: burn one in your ear, and then burn one outside your ear. Open it up, and look at all of the "ear" wax you find in both. It will be identical if you used the same brand of ear candles. If you aren't open-minded enough to try that, then I suppose that would explain why you would be ear candling to begin with. I have yet to see any possible way or even a logical explanation as to how a lit candle can create a "vacuum". Again, try this type of experiment outside your ear and see if you get any form of result. The thing is, it really can't work, and the explanation for how these candles are supposed to work is really just another example as to how people really will believe anything without thinking for themselves. Please, do some research on your own if you don't believe anyone else (it's part of being responsible for your own health)... which brings me to another point. Another commenter here said that research can be found on both sides of any argument... and that leads me to challenge anyone to find just one peer-reviewed double-blind study that supports this practice. There aren't any. There are, however, SEVERAL studies proving the latter. It is very easily proved that a candle cannot create "negative pressure"... you can even try it yourself without having to endanger your poor ear. Agreeing with the (sadly) 1 other reviewer who sees these candles for what they really are, they can do nothing but harm. Possibly, they could be relaxing, but nothing more. There most definitely is a placebo effect, which to some might be like finding out there is no Easter Bunny. Again, if you don't believe me, look it up absolutely anywhere and see for yourself. Unfortunately, probably for many of you with this "chronic" earwax buildup issue, the simple explanation is that you simply have not been helping it. Throw some wax-softening drops in your ear for a while each day and then flush it out (and trust me, just because they're FDA approved does not mean that they are "unnatural" or "unsafe" or untrustworthy for that matter.) There is a reason that no licensed physician will encourage you to light a fire near your ear canal. There is a reason they are not FDA approved, and interestingly, are illegal if their packages claim any medical benefit. Unless of course, anything that has to do with everything involving doctors, science or the government is a giant conspiracy and can't be trusted. No one is looking out for your health. Please continue lighting fires near your baby girl. When the local health store went out of business I had problems finding the ear candles at a discount price. I checked out Amazon.com and again they fixed my problem. I got free shipping with the bargin price for the product. I will be buying this product again. Average Rating:![]() |

Eucalyptus & Peppermint Aromatherapy Candle- 24 hr. burn time- made with 100% pure essential oilsReviewsI love eucalyptus and this candle smells nothing like it. It has an unnatural and unclean smell, something akin to burning trash. If you like the clean smell of eucalyptus, keep searching because this isn't the candle for you. I love this candle. It has a real purifying scent to it without being overpowering. It has no toxins in it and uses a cotton wick. I gave several to a woman battling cancer to help her body relax and heal itself. I didn't want her using anything with petrochemicals or other nasties in it. I like to burn this one on my bedroom dresser, because that room gets less air flow and can sometimes feel "blah" and stagnant. This really freshens things up. It looks little in its little tin, but it burns a long time. The tin is handy to put little things in later when the candle is all used up. (The tin also makes it handy for travel and when you have a baby like mine who is a menace to all glass containers everywhere.) I am not normally a candle person. Got this for emergency use and felt it would be a nice scent for that purpose, when everybody is a bit down. Used it during a recent weather scare and was pleasantly surprised how well this one worked. Nice bright light and a long burn life. After reading up on it, I found it was also good for the environment, with all natural ingredients. Looking forward to getting more and giving candles a chance. :) All of Plantlife's candles are very aromatic. No black smoke and good for the environment. I love them Average Rating:![]() |

Aromatherapy Candles- Lavender, Lemongrass & Orange, Tangerine & Lavender- made with 100% pure essential oils - 72 hr. total burn timeReviewsWhen ordering these three candles, I was fooled by the size shown in the picture. For $19.95 plus S&H, you would expect these to be of greater quality. I will never order candles from Amazon again. I am very disappointed in my purchase. I love to lite these when i am having a stressful day, they smell simply amazing and they are soy, so you can use the melted wax on your hands, which works great if you have really dry hands. would buy again! Bought them as a Christmas gift for my lady friend and she can't stop talking about them. I know when they are lit up at night exactly what she wants! They smell terrific! These candles smell nice and make the whole room scented. However, I don't think the burn time is as long as advertised. The lavender one has the best scent, in my opinion. The other ones are very citrus-y though, and make your house smell clean. They burn clean as well. Good product but a tad overpriced. If you are interested in wasting money - this is the product. Tiny candles that give off about 2 hours burn time. Average Rating:![]() |

Enjoy Lighting 372632 Burgundy Distressed Pomegranate Passion Scented Wax LED Pillar Candle, 3-Inch by 6-InchReviewsI'll never buy a 'real' candle again. No flames and no smoke to scorch your walls/ceilings. The scent is very subtle but the light is just right. The flickering is very realistic. It's worth the price. These candles are so realistic. I ordered two of them. I have one of them on my table in the dining room and the other one on the mantle. You really cannot tell that they are not real candles. The glow on the fireplace flickers on the wall just like real candles. The first ones I ordered came in cracked. I called Amazon and they told me to mail them back and they would replace them. They were fantastic. I got the next ones in two days, and they were perfect. I am so pleased with the candles and Amazon. Great candle, flickers like real and there are no worries using it. The only small distraction is the center part that flickers is not like a flame so it's best to put the candle where you can't look down into it. Great looking and smelling candle no flame to worry about. My daughter loves candles but I'm very nervous about fire so this is a great solution. Enjoy Lighting does a really good job of making this candle look real by using real wax to make it. The light on the candle is perfect to set the mood or just to relax. There are 2 settings for the light - dim and flicker. I would recommend this candle to anyone who's worried about burning down their house! Average Rating:![]() |

Enjoy Lighting 372631 Burgundy Distressed Pomegranate Passion Scented Wax LED Pillar Candle, 3-Inch by 4-InchReviewsI purchased two of these types of candles from this manufacturer. I threw them both in the garbage. The electronics were ok, and the appearance was not bad. But the smell was horrible! These are way over-scented. Smelled up my whole place like someone dumped over a bottle of cheap perfume. I had to toss them. This is a great replacement candle for real burning candles. The light is actually low in the top of the candle so it looks so real. There are two lighting switches - low and high. It feels like an actual wax pillar candle. The main reason I bought this was because I was worried about the open flame of candles. My cat walks around everything and with this candle I don't have to worry about him getting burned. I have seen or purchased other battery-operated candles before, and never felt truly satisfied with the imitation/performance/appearance. This is the first candle that I felt was "the one" . . . now the "problem" is, I want several more! I want it in other colors! As mentioned in another review, I would simply recommend that it not be placed in a position where guests will look "down into it," as of course, they would see it's not a real candle. But the lighting mechanism is improved from others I have seen, and at least with the burgundy colored candle, it doesn't look fake when it's lit. I can't comment on other colors thusfar. But prior to this one, I had another (i.e., made by another company) that had a light (flame) that was so yellowish, it just didn't look at all real when turned on. I have a feeling that the darker color helps because I had one that was an ivory color (again, made by a different company, not Enjoy Lighting), and the ivory color in particular allowed the overly-yellow-gold color to be more readily seen through the wax of the candle. So, it just lent itself to a more "fake" look. But this one does look far more real. The lighting mechanism is improved from a prior one I had, too, because the lights are encased in a dome-shaped plastic that gives it a more "lit" feel. I really love it and am presently devising other places where I can put them! Can't say enough, love the way it looks and the smell! The best one I've seen yet! Purchased for my mother-in-law and she loves them. We got the best deal at Amazon.com. Thanks, MLM These are made of real wax, and they look like real candles. The light is provided by a little nest of LED lights, that flicker by moving the bright point around, so that the light they cast e.g. on the wall moves and flickers just like the real thing. And they smell good, too. All-in-all, I'm highly impressed. Average Rating:![]() |

Zippo Wicks, Individual CardReviewspretty simple product so not much to talk about there, but shipping was fast, they threw in a gift, price and shipping totally reasonable. i guess its all good, but about twice what it should cost...Zippo Wicks, Individual Card THIS IS NOT A DISPLAY BOX NOR THE LIGHTER THAT IS SHOWN IN THE PICTURES. It's actually just a single wick in a very flimsy plastic packet. Shipping was really fast though and I guess I could use another wick. I am absoulity amazed at the quality of these wicks, they are soupported with wire, so they are very sturdy. Average Rating:![]() |

Cinnamon Apple Reed Diffuser - Red (7 oz.)ReviewsI bought this and another reed diffuser (Nectaire vanilla) about 10 months ago. This cinnamon one has a great scent, especially when I first started using it, but eventually wasn't very strong and I usually don't smell it when I enter the room it's in. (and I also tried in a small room like the bathroom). There is still half left after all that time. Flipping the reeds doesn't help that much. It does work, just not as well as others in terms of diffusing the scent. And it certainly lasts a long time. The Nectaire one emptied about a month ago and actually still had a pleasant scent that I notice. It didn't last as long (but certainly respectable) but it works much much better. For the price I wouldn't steer you away from trying this Cinnamon one but I won't likely purchase it again myself. The Cinnamon Apple Reed fragerance is absolutely wonderful. I use it in my two bathrooms. You receive a good amount of oil for the price which can't be beat. Average Rating:![]() |

Agraria TasselAire Scented TasselsReviewsI love the idea of the TasselAire in theory but in practice, it falls flat. I ordered the lemon verbena scent and while the aroma is delightful, there's just not enough of it. Even right out of the box the fragrance is underwhelming and it is non-existent hanging on a knob in my small hallway. The tassel itself is lovely and well made but doesn't do what it is touted to do (unless you stick your schnozz directly in it). I also purchased the mini AirEssence reed diffuser in lemon verbena and it has been scenting my entire bedroom for almost three months now and shows no signs of stopping. I'd recommend you go the extra mile and purchase the mini AirEssence instead of the TasselAire. I purchased this product back in 2008 and used it in my car. First of all it is nice to look at and the aroma is so pleasing. I have smelled some lemon verbena that is overpowering, but this is more subtle, but strong enough for my car with an infant. Highly recommend purchasing it. Average Rating:![]() |

A candle is a light source, and sometimes a heat source, consisting of a solid block of fuel and an embedded wick.
Prior to the mid-19th century, candles were made from tallow (a byproduct of beef-fat rendering). Nowadays, they are usually made from wax. Paraffin wax is the most common, but there are also candles made from gel, soya and beeswax.
A candle manufacturer is traditionally known as a chandler. Various devices have been invented to hold candles, from simple tabletop candle holders, to elaborate chandeliers.
The heat of the match used to light the candle melts and vaporizes a small amount of fuel. Once vaporized, the fuel combines with oxygen in the atmosphere to form a flame. This flame provides sufficient heat to keep the candle burning via a self-sustaining chain of events: the heat of the flame melts the top of the mass of solid fuel, the liquefied fuel then moves upward through the wick via capillary action, and the liquefied fuel is then vaporized to burn within the candle's flame.
The burning of the fuel takes place in several distinct regions (as evidenced by the various colors that can be seen within the candle's flame). Within the bluer regions, hydrogen is being separated from the fuel and burned to form water vapor. The brighter, yellower part of the flame is the remaining carbon being oxidized to form carbon dioxide.
As the mass of solid fuel is melted and consumed, the candle grows shorter. Portions of the wick that are not evaporating the liquid fuel are consumed in the flame, limiting the exposed length of the wick and keeping the temperature and rate of fuel consumption even. Some wicks require manual trimming with scissors or a wick trimmer for even burning.
