Yankee Candle - 22 oz. Candle Jar Featured ScentReviewsi was really disappointed with this product.it's aroma was gone. i found yankee candle in the mall & they said even tho i burned the candle over half way i was able to get another one of the same scent. what a difference. yankee candles are guaranteed. i will not buy yankee candles from anyone BUT yankee candle,co. I bought the small jar. It is half empty. That was earlier this week. That is how awesome this candle smells. This is my new favorite candle. If you miss summer light up this candle. Pop in an Ocean Surf CD, and drift away. Pretend you're on a beach and take a sniff of the salty air. I love this candle. I want the largest size so I can get my Sun & Sand fix. At first when I smelled it in the store, I wasn't too thrilled with it. Then when I lit it, I was like "Wow!" It may smell different just sniffing it but, you really need to light it to be sure. Also get the car jars! Then you get double the smells! This is one of the best Yankee Candle scents I've ever enjoyed! I found these on sale last year after Christmas and bought one. After lighting it and realizing how awesome it was, I bought a couple more. These are great to have not only at Christmastime but at any other time of the year. I just turn it around where you can't see the label and/or peel the label off. It is a pretty color AND it smells WONDERFUL! I highly recommend this 'Christmas Cookie' Yankee Candle. You won't be disappointed! I'm starting to wonder if I got a dud candle or something. I could barely smell anything from this, which is not usually an issue with Yankee. I got this sort of generic sweet scent, none of the nuances of sand and water that I was expecting, and barely any scent to boot. I may have to revisit this one, because my experience was pretty out of character for Yankee- their scents (even if I don't like them) are generally strong. This candle is great. The only problem is that it makes me want cookies and cupcakes every time I burn it. It will make you hungry but it makes the house smell like you have been baking all day! Average Rating:![]() |

Yankee Candle 22 oz. Candle JarReviewsOur family uses a lot of candles. There are very few hours during the day and evening that we do not hat at least one going. Yankee Candles are one of our favorite brands. This particular scent, French Vanilla is at the top of our list. The scent is quite mellow, strong but not overwhelming. This particular scent is also very soothing and works well for jangled nerves. As we use them so often, we find that this larger container is more cost effective. We do keep the wicks on our candles trimmed and we have very little problem with soot build up and the candle burns even with very little tunneling. The container is attractive and it does come in a wide assortment of colors. I will say though that the price listed here is about 10 percent more that we pay at three of our local outlets. If you factor in the cost of shipping on these things, that is a big, big difference. If you live in a location that has outlets, you might do better buying the locally...local purchasing is always better anyway if at all possible. The estimated burning time given here; 100 to 150 hours is about right. It should be remembered that candles do not do well on several levels if placed in a draft. It should also be noted that candles, by nature are an open flame item and great care should be taken on placement, especially if there are small children or animals around. We are very satisfied with this product in everyway and will continue to purchase them until something better comes along. Don Blankenship The Ozarks I ordered this as a Xmas gift for a family member. It never arrived! How disappointing This is not a critique of the candle. The candle itself is great! 5 Stars for the candle! I bought this item as a Christmas gift, and when I purchased it, I received no confirmation or shipping information from Bealls. After about 4 days, I called Bealls to ask if it had shipped and to get my tracking number, and I got a very rude customer service rep on the phone. I was asking simple questions, and she acted like I was asking the world from her. She seemed as if I was wasting her time, and she had better things to do. Customer service should be top notch for all companies, especially in times like these, and because of Bealls extremely poor customer service department, I will never buy anything from them again. Buy this product from another distributor. I bought this candle for my aunt to commemorate the day she went cotton picking with her grandfather when she was younger. The candle is white and smells like fresh clean sheets without the detergent flavor mixed in. I think it is a nice, mild fragrance. This candle really does smell like fresh-cut roses. Within minutes of lighting it filled my house with the scent of roses. This candle offers up a very true scent- it's not a perfumey rose, but a fresh rose, like you'd smell in the garden. Highly recommended. Average Rating:![]() |

Vanilla Lime 22 oz Housewarmer CandleReviewsWe recently bought this scent a few weeks ago at a Yankee Candle retail store (on sale, of course!) and have really enjoyed the scent. My wife deserves the credit as she was the one who picked it out. You can smell the strong and harmonious blend of vanilla and lime as you go from room to room (depending on the size of the rooms and house). The smell is strong without being overpowering. A good blend of citrus and vanilla. Recommended. Average Rating:![]() |

NEW, Yankee Candle, MIDNIGHT JASMINE, 22 oz. Housewarming Jar.ReviewsI purchased this item for a gift, and I have never seen or received a product so well packaged. I was also notified by e-mail as to when the candle was shipped. I would not hesitate to buy again from crazycandles. They are great sellers. A very authentic Jasmine (one of my favorite flowers) scent that had a great throw. I could smell this one all over my home without feeling like I was choking on the scent. I thought for sure my husband would have an issue with this one, however, it even won him over. Very fresh and sweet. A definite repurchase! FABULOUS candle! Yankee Candle 14.5 oz Candle Jar HOME SWEET HOMEReviewsFor the exact same price on amazon you can get a 22 oz yankee candle. I did not know there were separate sizes so went with the cheaper product (by 0.50 cents) only to get half the candle hence half the burn time. Look for the 22 oz candles! I love my candle but do not love the small size. I would ordet this product again. It smells great and shipping was prompt anc accurate. I am very happy with the product and the short time it took to receive it. The jar, unforunately, broke during shipping but not a fault of the seller. The item was well packaged so I suspect poor handling by USPostal Service. In any case, seller sent compimentary matching small jar candles in same fragrance as good will gesture. I would buy from this seller again. Yankee Candle produces a series of scented candles. I have used the French Vanilla version. This "housewarmer candle" introduces a pleasant odor into the room. The scent is not over strong and, indeed, makes a positive impression. It is not going to clean up unpleasant odors (not made for that), but it adds a sense of warmth in one's home. The Sign of the Twisted Candles (Nancy Drew, Book 9)ReviewsFirst of all, I am an older person, a 64 year old happily married man. Whilst I have been aware of the Nancy Drew books all of my life I had never read any of them. We purchased the 4 DVD set of the Nancy Drew movies that were made during 1938-1939 and absolutely fell in love with them. As a result my wife bought me the first 6 books in a set. These were the yellow cover books that had been revised from the originals. Then I ran across the Applewood reprints of the original books. For someone my age it is my opinion that the Applewood books are more appropriate. The vocabulary and writing style of the late 1920's and 1930's was something with which I could identify. Reading the stories was like talking with my parents and grandparents again - wonderful. For me it was a return to the age of innocence that was long lost: Innocence lost due to time and war. The 'Sign of the Twisted Candles' is a great, fun tale full of twists and turns just as the book title suggests. I count it among my favorites, but then no matter which of the original Nancy Drew books I happen to read it too immediately becomes a favorite. The story shows Nancy at her best when confronted with a deep mystery and neither she nor you could ever be dissappointed with this 'Twisted Tale". I highly recommend that you read it - and share the book with your Grandfather. Any Nancy Drew fan will love this book and read it more than once. The book was in excellent condition and arrived promptly. It will make a wonderful gift for my niece! In this story Nancy and her friends, Bess and George, go to an inn to spend the night for some reason. At said inn, they meet a seemingly normal girl named Carol. Afterwards, Carol introduces them to a nice old man named Asa Sydney, who turns out to be the relative of both Bess and George somehow... After his death, Bess and George split up due to family rivalry after the discovery that Asa was quite wealthy, and Nancy is cought in the middle!!! 'o' Quote: "Oh Nancy~~ it's terrible! Asa has died!" (Carol Wimple) Main Character: Nancy Drew~~~ A bright girl sbout the age of 18 or so who loves helping people. She is fashionable and easy to get along with, as she is always making friends with side characters. Her observation skills are very high. She does not always wear the most practicle clothing for crime fighting, as evident by the sketches in the book. Setting: An old farmhouse that has been converted to an inn. The year is sometime in the 1950's, possibly... Genre: Mystery The author did a very good job using descriptive words and includes many details. The ending was happy ^_^ Someone who might like this book are children, ages 9-13, as it's easy to read and has a simple plot. Overall, I thought it was a good book, although a little juvenile for people over the age of 13. It is perfect for someone looking for VERY light reading with a good plot that keeps your attention. Bought this for my daughter who is entering third grade. Personally I am thrilled she is reading books I read. She is borrowing from the library but she received the first few from an aunt and we have purchased what she can't find to borrow. Well written with an appropriate sense of humor for her age level. As a teacher I'd say they are probably appropriate for grades 3 through 6 or 7th grade dependent on their reading level. Applewood Books has turned back the hands of time and given back Nancy Drew to readers. Faithfully restored to its original form, word for word, this is the real Nancy. These beautifully reproduced hardback editions are not condensed, rewritten or updated. This is the Nancy Drew of the 1930's, her blonde bob and 30's style dress shown on the facimile of the original dust jacket, conjuring up images and phrases from the enchanted America of yesteryear. While it is still a book designed for youthful readers, there is a bit more depth here in the originals, and not a small dose of nostalgia when read today. You can almost see the Coke sign outside the River Heights Theatre showing the latest Nancy Carroll picture, as Nancy goes whizzing past in hot pursuit of a clue. "The Sign of the Twisted Candles" remains one of the best in the series conceived by Edward Stratemeyer, creator of The Hardy Boys. A ghostwriter from Iowa named Mildred Wirt fleshed out his story outlines and "Carolyn Keene" was born. When he died in 1930, his daughter Harriet continued to oversee his company and in 1933 "The Sign of the Twisted Candles," the ninth book in the popular series, was published. A warm and affectionate introduction by mystery writer Carolyn G. Hart is the only addition or deviation from how it first appeared in this lovely edition. Nancy and her pals George and Bess are caught in a rainstorm and seek shelter at The Sign of the Twisted Candles. Nancy befriends a young orphan named Sadie and finds danger and mystery lurking at the Twisted Candles, of course. The plot revolves around Asa Sydney and his will, and a family fued which will cause George and Bess to desert Nancy for a time until a lesson about loyalty is learned. Nancy's father, famous lawyer Carson Drew, gets involved on behalf of his daughter, and Hannah Gruen, the Drew's houskeeper and mother-figure to Nancy, is present here as well. Buried secrets and an attempt to run Nancy off the road offer plenty of action unmarred by today's brand of violence for readers. An exciting and heartfelt conclusion punctuates a wholesome mystery which provides a role model even today. These beautiful Applewood editions stand head and shoulders above the others as they help young readers discover Nancy in a romantically nostalgic past. It is a past more innocent to be sure, filled with ice cream parlors and roadsters, five cent Saturday mornings at the movies watching our favorite serial adventure and, of course, Nancy Drew. Young readers will discover a new friend to rush home to after class and the joy of losing yourself in a book with this edition. Older readers who either read them in their own youth or bought them for their children all the time will heave a wistful sigh for a time long gone in America's past. Average Rating:![]() |

Candle in the WindowReviewsThe first 'almost'... 1/4 and the last 'almost'... 1/4 of this book I actually thought was OK, but the whole middle of the book was rather lame and I had to skip through most of it... Their public displays of love were all wrong for that time period and any disability back then(the child would not have been kept alive to even make it to Saura's age) What the hey, it is fiction and I can live with that. But, William was supposed to be an intelligent and great Warrior, yet he never showed it even once in my opinion and in fact all the Warriors in this book were more like out of a scene from 'The Keystone Cops'. For example, William would never have ridden off blind with a blind Saura with just the two boys pulling the lead strings of their horses outside the castle into who knew what in those troubled times. And they made love in the da--dest places instead of getting the h--- out of dangerous situations... first! (William never seemed to have a plan)and neither did any of the other Warriors. More the acts of untrained juveniles than great Warriors. I just couldn't buy any of it. I liked Bronnie and the name of the book "Candle in the Window' and that's about it. I liked William and Saura but like I said, they just did not ring true and believable for that time period. But, they did beat the constantly fighting, I love you, I love you not, hero's and heroines of other books I have read. I would still get this one from the library though, that way if you are of the same opinion that I am, you haven't wasted any money or if you have the 5 star opinion of some other reviewers here after reading it, you can still buy it. That way you can't go wrong!(; Setting: Medieval England, 1153 Sensuality: 7 I greatly enjoyed Candle in the Window even though I don't normally read medieval historical romances - I'm more into the regency/Victorian setting. I am a great fan of Christina Dodd's novels, however, so I wanted to read this earlier work of hers (1991). Saura and William were a wonderful pair and I enjoyed the interactions and chemistry between them. Saura was kind, courageous, and capable; her strength was a wonderful thing to see in a heroine and the fact that she is blind adds a nice twist for someone who has read almost every historical romance out there! William was one of those tough warrior heroes, but he was so tender and sensitive with Saura that it made my heart melt. He was quick-witted and loyal and I loved his possessiveness of Saura and jealousy over others admiring her (he doesn't take it out on her or anything like that, so it's actually very sweet). CRITICISMS: There are two reasons that I couldn't give it five stars, the first being also one of the main reasons that I don't normally read medieval romances: because when the author is accurate in depicting the times (as they should be) there are a lot of things which bother me: the young age at which women were married, the widespread acceptance of physical punishment, etc. Though William never abuses Saura, he clarifies to her brothers that he doesn't believe in hitting his wife even if she deserves it - sorry, I just don't believe anyone "deserves" being hit. Also, he does slap one of the servant women, Hawisa, at the beginning. Overall, William is NOT one of those heroes that you feel acts more like a villain, so please don't think that; he's very sweet and understanding with Saura. I also didn't like the constant references to "sluts" and some of the characterizations of the serfs and churls. These were all probably accurate for the times, but it is why I normally steer clear of romances from this era. My second criticism is that Saura's objections to marrying William, her subsequent turnaround, Maude and Lord Peter's plan - it was all very murky and unclear. I didn't fully understand the emotional obstacles to William and Saura's relationship, as it seems like Dodd couldn't make up her own mind throughout the novel about what it was that was stopping them from being completely happy and open with one another. In the end it all resolves itself, of course, but there was just a general murkiness and vacillation on this subject throughout the novel that detracted from the overall quality of the story. SUMMARY (from the back cover): "Lady Saura of Roget lives a lonely life of servitude - her fortune controlled by her cruel, unscrupulous stepfather. Yet it is she who has been called upon to brighten the days of Sir William of Miraval, a proud and noble knight who once swore to live or perish by the sword ... until his world was engulfed in agonizing darkness. Summoned to Sir William's castle, the raven-haired innocent is soon overcome by desire and love for the magnificent, golden warrior who has quickly laid siege to her heart. But there is a grave danger awaiting them both just beyond the castle walls ... and a dear and deadly price to be paid for surrendering to a fiery, all-consumed love." BOTTOM LINE: I would highly recommend this book - the hero was to die for and it was easy to respect Saura and want her to finally get the happy ending she deserved. It wasn't my favorite Christina Dodd, but definitely worth reading and I am glad I bought it, so that I can reread it in the future. I usually love any books written by Christina Dodd. But, this must've been from her earlier stuff. I didn't like the writing nor the story. It seemed to drag. However, I happen to love her more recent stuff. When Lord William is blinded in a battle and becomes bitter and withdrawn his father Peter is desparate to find help for his beloved son. This help comes in the form of Saura, a land wealthy heiress who also happens to be blind and at the mercy of her cruel stepfather. Peter convinces her stepfather to allow Saura to travel to William's estate to manage it and soon she has the estate whipped into shape. Peter makes everyone keep silent about Saura's blindness and William is intrigued by this woman who runs his estate but isn't tiptoeing around him like everyone else, she tells him exactly what she thinks. William and Saura start falling in love and then are kidnapped. After being hit in the head, William regains his sight and is determined to marry the beautiful Saura, who fears he only pities her. There is intrigue and conspiracy afoot involving a plot to rid William of his holdings. This was a sweet clever story...not the most exciting but good still. Candle in the Window is a true classic by Christina Dodd. The book is for any fan of Medieval England and a heroine, who even though is blind (and actually from birth and stays that way) is an incredible young lady who finds her self worth and a wonderful love with a knight and lord who matches her in everyway. Saura is the main reason to read this novel. This is such strong heroine who has such a problem as no sight and is able to function above most. Saura doesn't let her blindness limit her. At times she does seem depressed because she doesn't think she will ever marry or have children. Her stepfather is abusive and hides her away. But then her life has purpose and there is an adventure on the horizon. A lord comes to her to have her help his son William. William was hit on the head in a battle and is now blind. He has given up on life and is practically a shell of his former self. Saura goes to his castle and gives him a reason to live. She wins over his young son and his people, including William himself. Soon Saura and Williams become lovers, very intense and passionate ones regardless that they can't see each other. But then Williams regains his sight and enemies come out to try to destroy Saura and William's happiness. Most should enjoy this love story, especially with an exceptional heroine and her hero who wants her love and cherish her for the rest of her days. Saura can be stubborn at times refusing to marry William because she doesn't want to be a burden. Well, William will show Shaura that he means business and that she means more to him then his own life. There are come comedic exchanges along with suspense and wonderful characters that will stay with you long after you have read this book. Katiebabs Average Rating:![]() |

The Candle of Distant EarthReviewsAbducted by the profit-conscious Vilenjji nearly four years previous, the K'eremu Sque, Tuuqalian Braouk, human Marcus Walker and dog George continue to enlist whatever aide helpful aliens are willing to give them in their search for their respective homeworlds. The Candle of Distant Earth concluded Foster's Taken trilogy in a most efficacious manner. While at times the story felt a bit like it was leading towards a pre-determined and obvious conclusion -- getting everyone home -- the alien cultures that are met along the way provide most of the reason for turning pages. There was always something different on the next page...even if the story itself was a bit predictable. Ultimately, despite this predictability, I was less interested in knowing that all parties involved would get home, and much more interested in the path that would take them to their respective planets of origin. The Candle of Distant Earth (and indeed the entire trilogy) should be viewed as an easy, fun, lighthearted page-turner. It is with this in mind I will consider picking up further Foster stories in the future. alan dean foster again has written an excellent book that brings a conclusion that only he could come up with. Thoroughly enjoyable Candle of Distant Earth (2006) is the third SF novel of the Taken series, following The Light Years Beneath My Feet. In the previous volume, Walker, George, Sqee and Braouk were provided with three ships and crews to search for their home worlds. The Niyyuuan astronomers even found some evidence of Tuuqalian ships traveling through one sector of the galaxy. In this novel, Marcus Walker was a commodity trader on the Chicago exchange. Then he was captured by the Vilenjii, a group of alien slavers. Now he is a chef in a galactic civilization. George is a dog from the streets of Chicago. His intelligence and vocal cords were enhanced by Vilenjii slavers, so he can now think and talk. George is very cynical and somewhat paranoid from his time on the streets. Sequi'aranaqua'na'senemu is a cephalopod-like alien from K'eremu. Sqee has a high intelligence and an even higher opinion of her abilities. She also had been captured by the Vilenjii. Broullkounuvv-ahd-Hrashkin is a huge alien from Tuuqalia. Braouk is a singer of long sagas. He too had been a slave of the Vilenjii. Sobj-oes is a Niyyuuan astronomer. He had led the search for the home worlds of the escaped slaves. He is accompanying them on their voyage. Gerlia-hya is Commander-Captain for the three Niyyuuan ships searching for their homeworld. He is the military commander of the expedition. Ussakk the Astronomer is a Hyfft. He is the senior astronomer on duty at the observatory. In this story, Ussakk is notified of the presence of three spaceships approaching Hyff. The only times that three ships have appeared in the system, they contained Iollth invaders. He confirms the observations and takes a conveyor to the nearby city to report to the local Overwatch. In Therapp, he swaps his conveyor for a smaller urban model and travels to the administrative center. Then he presents his findings to the Delineator of the Day. She immediately calls a meeting of the other Delineators and orders Ussakk to remain for the conference. When the Niyyuuan ships arrive at the planet, the natives don't respond to their signals. Sobj-oes is puzzled by the reactions of the natives. As they take a shuttle down to the planet, they notice the natives evacuating the city where they are landing. After the Niyyuuans and Walker's party touch down at the spaceport and leave their shuttle, the Hyfft are relieved to discover that they are not Iollth. The visitors are treated as guests and make some friends. After they find a common language, Walker and the Niyyuuans learn of Iollth raids on Hyff and of Hyfft attempts to dissuade the invaders from killing them and stealing their artifacts. Gerlia-hya provides the Hyfft with plans and samples of Niyyuuan armaments. The Hyfft first manufacture small arms and then start producing the more powerful weapons. The Hyfft should be prepared for the next Iollth visit. As the Niyyuuans depart the planet, Iollth ships appear in the system. The Hyfft have prepared plans for their return, but are not fully equipped to fight. The Iollth detect the three Niyyuuan ships leaving the system. This tale reveals the history of Hyff and their response to the Iollth. Then it follows Walker and his party as they search for Tuuqalia. The voyage takes them even further into the hinterlands of the galaxy. This novel concludes the trilogy. Yet it does not end the adventures of Walker and his friends. Read and enjoy! Recommended for Foster fans and for anyone else who enjoys tales of alien civilizations, interstellar travel, and strange relationships. If anyone has not previously read this series, the initial volume is Lost and Found. -Arthur W. Jordin I started reading this book last Thursday because it was the only download I had available and I had my 'computer tied up doing a defrag so I couldn't go out to download any other books just then. Times like that that make me wish I owned a Kindle: Amazon's New Wireless Reading Device. :) Normally, I much prefer reading series books in order but unfortunately I didn't realize until too late that this book was the 3rd in a trilogy. I have no regrets about reading it first as it almost immediately captured my interest and attention. I found it easy enough to get the gist of what went on in the earlier books as I read along. Unlike many of the reviewers here I thought the ending was perfect. It made perfect logical sense to me and I could understand exactly why and Walker and George would feel as they did about finally finding Earth and returning home. I love the fact that it does leave it open for more stories. I admit that I am a big fan of Alan Dean Foster. I enjoy his stories and love the way he writes. I love science fiction with lots of cool aliens and foreign worlds and Foster always brings it home for me. I am now about 2/3 of the way through the first book in the TAKEN series,Lost and Found: A Novel. It's wonderful entertainment! By the way, if you like Foster then I also recommend E. E. "Doc" Smith's Chronicles of the Lensmen, Volume 1 (Interplanetary, First Lensman, Galactic Patrol )and Chronicles of the Lensmen (The Lensmen Series, Volume 2) -- Space Epics at it's best -- I actually picked up this book first, then about two chapters in realized it must be a sequel. So I got the first two books and worked my way back to it. I found the whole series to be charming, although perhaps slightly stretched out a bit too long. I liked all the main characters and enjoyed most of the plot. It became clear that something would have to give way at the end of the tale -- the stated goal of getting home to Earth was just not going to fit in with the way the characters had developed. But the execution of the final twist in the story fell flat. It didn't really fit the characters either. This was a charming story with a lot of humor and some drama, but in the end it was something like a fireworks display without a grand finale. It leaves the audience saying, "and ... that's it?"
